OCI Personal Particulars Updation

1. Discontinuation of physical OCI cards/booklets

With effect from 8 July 2026, printing of physical OCI cards/booklets has been discontinued. Accordingly, OCI cardholders are no longer required to apply for re-issue of a physical OCI card.

Instead, they must apply for OCI Personal Particulars Updation in the cases specified below.

2. Cases Requiring OCI Personal Particulars Updation

2.1 Change in personal particulars

If an OCI cardholder obtains a new passport containing personal particulars that differ from those recorded in the existing OCI record, the cardholder must apply for OCI Personal Particulars Updation.
This service is required in the following cases:

• Change of name for any reason, including change of name after marriage;
• Change of date of birth or place of birth;
• Change of nationality, provided the new nationality is not that of Pakistan or Bangladesh; or
• Correction of errors in the existing OCI record, including errors relating to the name, date of birth or place of birth.

2.2 Supporting documentary evidence

Applicants seeking any change or correction in their personal particulars must provide appropriate documentary evidence in support of the requested change.

3. Submission of Application

3.1 Submission through VFS Global

The Consulate does not accept OCI Personal Particulars Updation applications directly.
An application is considered submitted only after the completed application, together with all prescribed supporting documents, has been submitted to VFS Global. VFS Global will verify the application and documents before forwarding the case to the Consulate for processing.

3.2 Application procedure, checklist and fees

3.3 Completeness of documentation

Applicants are advised to ensure that all documents prescribed in the checklist available on the VFS Global website are in hand before submitting the application. Incomplete documentation may result in delay or return of the application.
