The Government of India has decided to discontinue the conversion of Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards to Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards after December 31, 2025. Consequently, the PIO to OCI conversion facility is no longer available.

PIO cardholders who wish to obtain OCI registration are advised to apply afresh for OCI registration in accordance with the extant guidelines.

Important Note:

The Consulate General of India, Atlanta, does not accept OCI applications directly. An OCI application is considered as submitted only upon physical submission of the duly completed application, along with all requisite supporting documents, to M/s VFS Global (the authorized outsourcing service provider). VFS Global will verify the documents and forward the application to the Consulate for processing.

Applicants are advised to ensure that their applications are complete in all respects, as per the prescribed document checklist, to avoid delays or return of applications
